In the fall of 2017, after a seemingly never-ending search, we bought a house and seven acres out in the country north of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. It was love at first sight when we saw our house, our minds instantly pictured sitting on the wrap around porch and drinking our coffee while watching the swans swim around the pond. We knew right away this was the place we were going to plant our roots, but even though we loved it, I couldn't help but think that it wasn't quite the farm I had in mind.
Fortunately, that is something that can be fixed with a little bit of imagination and elbow grease. Over the last few months, we have slowly started to transform our property into a hobby farm, we have planted apple trees, built a pig pen, planted a garden, and bought goats.
We have a long way to go to get to where we want to be and we have some big plans for the coming years. We are excited to share this process with you, so please follow along as we turn our little piece of land into a hobby farm!
